AM Breweries from Amager in Copenhagen won this year’s Creative Business Cup Denmark for their soft drink brewed on coffee leaves that are normally discarded and therefore go to waste. The Business idea combines a massive demand for soft drinks and energy beverages with the coffee farmers need of optimizing their production.
AM Breweries were in close competition with; a platform which monitors the number of plays of music at radio stations worldwide; a service, which provides gastronomical entrepreneurs with a cheap access to kitchens; a grasshopper-trap for third world countries; and the meeting- and conference businesses answer to AirBnB.
Deloitte set the frame for the Danish World Cup for creative entrepreneurs. 5 of Denmark’s best and most creative entrepreneurial teams pitched their ideas to a jury consisting of, amongst others, Amy Cosper (RadicalUpstarts), Sten Peters (Deloitte), Søren Stenderup (CrowdInvest), Karina Rothoff Brix (Copenhagen School Of Entrepeneurship) and Henrik Rasmussen (Roskilde Festival) throughout the day. The minister of Employment and Integration from the Copenhagen municipality Anna Mee Aallerslev held a speech at the Creative Business Cup during which she stressed the importance of supporting creative entrepreneurs because of their unique ability to create growth in other businesses.
Money and mentorship
20 creative entrepreneurs became 5, and then 3 and finally 1 winner was announced. Creative entrepreneurs were competing for cash prizes and honor for the last couple of months, at Creative Business Cup Denmark – The Danish championships for creative entrepreneurs.
AM Breweries, who are based on Amager, took the desirable first place and can now look forward to competing against creative entrepreneurs from more than 60 other countries, at Creative Business Cup Global, which are held in Copenhagen in November 2017.
The Jury’s motivation for awarding the first place to AM Breweries was the following:
“The team has discovered the fantastic nutritious coffee-leaves, that are normally considered a waste-product and AM-Breweries will be the first to transform this waste-product into a delicious soft drink. The jury believes that the team can turn this idea into an exciting product on a market that holds a huge potential. “
it isn’t over: Top 5 meets the investors at the international competition
When the World Championships for creative entrepreneurs will be held in November, the top 5 from Creative Business Cup will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of several worldwide investors.
Rasmus Tscherning, Director of Creative Business Cup says:
“Creative entrepreneurs are not only rated highly in Denmark. The investors that travel to Denmark to join the Creative Business Cup participates because creative entrepreneurs are highly valued all over the world – they create growth, that expand beyond the creative sectors. Danish organizations are aware of the potential that lies within innovation and new ideas at the creative startups and Creative Business Cup has been an important step stone for successful entrepreneurs such as Rokoko, Mystery Makers, Grød and Carcel. “
Motivations for 2.and 3. Place:
2. place: Jump:
“Creativity is multidimensional. This team have created something that creates CSR-value and that at the same time is technically simple. The Team has done a substantial market research and have shown that they have a wide understanding of the problems, which their product solves. The judgement from the jury is, that there are many options for further scaling of this business idea.”
3. place: WARM:
“The team have created a product, based on already known technology, but they provide their target group with opportunities of collecting data and from that a possibility of working in a better way as well as more goal-oriented. The jury sees a big potential in this startup, as they are the only ones on the market of their kind at the moment. The team has a strong business model and we hope to see much more of them in the future.”
